Following an initial meeting a short while ago, Roel invited me for a second fotoshoot -this time with a Halloween theme. I was pleasantly surprised and readily accepted, knowing that this theme was a perfect fit for me. Roel even picked me up from the train statiom personally, which I truly appreciated. After a cup of coffee together with his wife, Netty, and their dog Dany -a large, sweet female Saint Bernard who seemed happy to see me again- we headed to the studio. I felt completely at home in Roel's Halloween themed setup, and I found that I was able to reveal more of myself during this second shoot. It was the setting, the sense of calm, and the genuine appreciation that made this possible. We took photos and chatted; the whole experience was incredibly relaxed. Afterward, over coffee and a piece of speculaas, we reviewed the work whe had just created, along with some of his other projects, before he drove me back to the station. On the train ride home, I reflected on how seamlessly the day had unfolded -as if it were the most natural thing in the world. And in a way, it was -natural, yet in a truly special way. It's impossible to put into words, but it was a beautiful experience to have had. Next time, I'll bring a bouquet of flowers -simply because it feels like the right thing to do...until then!
